Fulton’s Lower School, which encompasses kindergarten through fourth grade, is structured to help each child pursue academic excellence. Our approach, including a progressive curriculum and commitment to small classes (no more than 16 students per class), is so effective, Fulton students consistently test two to three grade levels above the national norm on the Stanford Achievement Test.
Through individual and collaborative work, students expand their knowledge and gain insight into a vast scope of subjects. Our Lower School curriculum includes:
Reading
Oral and Written Communication
Creative Writing
Mathematics
Social Studies
Lab-based Science
Music
Art
Spanish
Handwriting/Penmanship
Computer Science
Physical education
In addition, students learn study skills and the importance of service to others. Daily homework assignments are checked for completion and mastery, and tests are given for evaluation purposes.
Our teachers are dedicated to helping each individual child achieve his fullest potential in the classroom. We encourage parents to actively engage teachers in discussions about your child’s progress and opportunities. If a child is experiencing difficulty in a specific subject, our 16:1 student-teacher ratio prevents him or her from “slipping through the cracks.”
International Week
Each spring, students take part in a week-long immersion course about other cultures. From food and customs to language and daily activities, students explore life around the globe. |
